Coochiemudlo Island Progress Association (CIPA) is happy to announce that. with the co-operation from the Coochie Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC), there will be a medical centre opening on Coochie in October.
A pathology service will compliment the doctors’ surgery and Progress is in negotiation with a physio clinic one day per week giving our island a complete medical service.
It will work like this: starting with a doctors surgery half a day, one day per week and as the demand increases the hours will increase.
The pathology service should be something similar. Support from Island residents is of paramount importance for this to succeed.
Many years ago one of the farming families on the island (the Pullen family) donated a sum of money to be used as a medical centre; that was their dream.
The Coochie SLSC built a first aid room in their Club and accessed the Pullen Trust money (administered by CIPA) to complete the project. So the plan is that on the weekend it is a first aid room for the Surf Club and a medical surgery during the week.
