VICTORIA Point businesswoman and Point Halloran Neighbourhood Watch deputy coordinator Louise Denisenko will run as a Redland City Council candidate in Division 4.

The division, held by councillor John Burns on and off for 11 years, encompasses Victoria Point and Coochiemudlo Island.

Ms Denisenko said, if elected, she would work to attract more jobs and small business to the area and improve road and transport infrastructure.

One of her more unusual plans would be to change the postcode for Coochiemudlo Island to 4165 from 4184, to differentiate it from other southern Moreton Bay islands.

Ms Denisenko also promised to start a youth club in the Victoria Point, Redland Bay area.

“I think the area needs this because the population is growing so rapidly,” Ms Denisenko said.

“There are many older people who would love to share their knowledge with youngsters and bridge the age gap,” she said.
