MASTER Pastellist Chris Blake will be judge for the Coochie Art Group 34th annual art exhibition.
The theme for this popular show is Beyond the Brush and the show will feature new representational and abstract work by members in acrylic, oil, watercolour, mixed media, pastel and various drawing media.
Awards will be presented in seven categories: oils/acrylics, watercolours, pastels, open media, abstract and surrealist, pen and wash/drawing and small works.
Two additional prizes will be awarded: Judge’s Choice (Carroll’s Picture Framing and Art Gallery) and the People’s Choice (Family of Joyce Collett.
This year’s judge Christopher Blake is now based at Landsborough on the Sunshine Coast.
South London borne, Blake has led a varied life from an Outback stockman to art teacher.
He has achieved numerous awards and recognition from fellow artists including the Ken Farrow Award for Artistic Excellence at the Maleny Art Awards in 2003.
Sponsors for this year's Coochie Art Awards are Carroll’s Picture Framing and Art Gallery, Cleveland, Cleveland Office Supplies, Mellersh Gallery and Art Supplies, and personal patrons, Family of Joyce Collett (deceased) Carolyn Santaguiliana, and John English.
Redland Mayor Don Seccombe will open the show at Redland Art Gallery Cleveland, Cleveland, on Sunday, November 11, at 9am.
Entry is free and everyone is welcome to attend a light brunch after the official proceedings.
All painting are for sale and the show will continue until Sunday, December 2.
Raffle tickets will be on sale for $1 and this year's major prize is Waterlillies by tutor Judy Pomroy who conducted several tutorials for the art group this year. Second prize is three bottles of Parliamentary Wine donated by Member for Redlands John English.
The raffle and People’s Choice will be announced on November 30.
The gallery is open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm, Sunday 9am-2pm.

An Artists Floor Talk will be held at 11.30am on Wednesday, November 14, where artists Terry Wilkinson, Hilary Wakeling, Pat Fuller and Jan Cox will cover their interest in art and talk about their work in the exhibition. Everyone is encouraged to pop in and chat on this day.
